I know: the press line around here is that the Jez is too something or too something else. And their readers are a bunch of fucking wackadoo menstruating batshit wacko extremists, and that one, I’ll stick to. [That being said, I’ve compared the majority of readers Cajun Boy and I get - weekend “warriors” and insomniacs - to those deep sea creatures with flashlights coming out of their asses and whatnot…so, there’s that].
That being said - and I’m not just saying this because she’s my weekend brethren - Hortense at Jezebel is doing fantastic, really readable stuff on the weekends. You can tell she does her work beforehand*. For example: this, this, and this.
*As opposed to the sloppy shitshow I’m freaking out about for 48 hours straight beginning every Friday night. I’ve actually taken to wearing a blood pressure monitor beginning Thursday just for kicks.
hortense is pretty much the only reason why i still read jezebel at all. her weekend posts are the best.
